Why are these big shades so popular with women? I've been impatiently hopeful that this trend would run its course and the style would move away from the big, big lenses.
This fashionista would be happy to enlighten you. The round shape of the glasses plumps up the cheeks and gives the illusion of rounded, healthly 'apple' cheeks. Think visual collagen for the face.
Lets look at the history of fashionable eyewear shall we? Mia Farrow and Jackie O started this current trend in the 60s. The 70's gave way to aviator glasses, the 80's brought us Ricky Business Ray Bans and the 90s introduced up to Terminator style wraparounds.
